SCHOOL STARTS

This week Harper started and Rudy is back to work. He's teaching two math classes (Quantitative Literacy and Finite Math) on Tuesday and Thursday nights and taking two science classes (Organic Chemistry and Principles of Biology) on Mondays and Wednesdays as well as a Spanish class on Friday nights--at least his mornings and all day Friday's are free, as are the weekends.

Karl is still working at the German restaurant but will also be in the new Bears Drumline this coming Thursday. Yvonne is getting ready to go to Ireland for three months, leaving just before her birthday--possible party at my parents on the 11th??? [How did my baby get to be 25???] Karl says Karin has finished the Medical Transcription course but is not yet working in that field; she and Mike will be going camping in September, in Idaho, I think??? Erik is adjusting to his new apartment--which he discovered has roaches (shudder)--and a heavy workload at his job. And Bridget should be moved by now. Haven't heard from Anne since their visit; probably all busy working.

I've only been working sporadically since our return from Tucson. Yesterday I attended the funeral at the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren for one of our long-time AAUW members, Betty Medearis. She was a lovely lady; it was a privilege to have known her. The service was beautiful, especially the music and particularly the "Irish Blessing" sung by the excellent choir a capella as they stood around the the sides and front of the church.

Afterwards, I went to see my parents. They are both looking very good and we had a nice visit.
